This a very nice example of an early 20th century West Point cadet's parade shako with the original plume (often missing or replaced). The front brass badge has a folded banner across the top around a Federal Eagle, which reads: DUTY, HONOR, COUNTRY, WEST POINT, MDCCCII, USMA.
